The purpose of the Mechanical Contractors Association is:

To represent the Mechanical Contracting Industry and to act as its spokesperson in dealing with the public, government, other associations in the construction industry, manufacturers and labor.

To provide for its members all the advantages of large representation, furnish educational facilities for improving their contracting knowledge and technical capabilities.

To offer to the public a membership dedicated to the task of furnishing efficient and economical installations, in a fair and harmonious manner.

To accomplish this, the Association engages in the following activities:

  • Develops educational seminars for its members to improve their capabilities in all phases of the Mechanical Contracting business and holds the seminars at various venues in the country.
  • Meets with the United Association of Journeyman and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipefitting industry to discuss and seek solutions to many of the mutual problems existing between management and labor.
  • Provides representation to national bodies such as the Construction Industry Stabilization Committee, Industrial Relations Council and National Board for Settlement of Jurisdictional Disputes.
  • Meets with other national associations in the construction industry in an attempt to resolve mutual industry problems which beset all of our members, owners, architects, engineers and the entire construction industry.
  • Assists in the development of materials/operation of programs to develop the skills of apprentices and journeymen.
  • Engages in legislative activities in an effort to improve the role of the Mechanical Contractor in the areas of laws and regulations.
  • Meets with engineering societies, government agencies, other construction contractors associations and manufacturers associations to develop standards and practices leading to efficient, safe and economical installation.
  • Develops manuals such as Labor Estimating and Accounting and distributes to its members: technical information, safety bulletins, news memos and statistical information.
  • Sponsors the National Certified Pipe Welding Bureau and jointly with SMACNA the National Environmental Balancing Bureau.
